INTRODUCTION

Varantharappilly Grama Panchayat is located in Kodakara block of Chalakudy taluk of Thrissur district. This panchayat, which has an area of 102.82 square kilometers, has three villages within its limits:

📜 History and legend
Behind the name: The place was called 'Vanatharappilly' because it was a forested area, but later the sound changed and it became 'Varantharappilly'.
Formation: Varantharappilly panchayat officially came into existence on 15 July 1953.
Political Legacy: The political history of Varantharappilly was shaped by the period from 1948 to 1960. The rubber estate in the Palappilly region, established in 1902, played a crucial role in energizing the political and social scenes here.
